We have rented from them for decades. They have always been friendly and helpful. When there has been a problem, they have been very responsive. People must think they routinely go to their properties and check for problems. That's an impossible and unreasonable task. They depend upon renters bringing any problems to their attention! It is not always within their power to address something the owners need to do, but DO contact the owners for a resolution. We have come to Pawleys for 44 years and rented many houses through them.

Imagine going to Pawleys for the usual reasons: peace & quiet, r & r, sun & beach, etc. But the entire week is filled with constant loud construction noise from right next door! It starts as early as 7am, 20 feet from your bed and goes as late as 7pm. How much is a vacation like that worth to you? Zero? Far less than zero? Apparently Pawleys Island Realty thinks its worth a lot, because when we told them, they whipped out clause 34-708c-bx49@*$&8.1009c, which states construction noise is your problem, not theirs. They surely knew about the construction - it was a new house and almost finished, so it had been going on for months. In a decent world, they would have simply warned of possible construction noise, before we signed their well-lawyered contract, and clearly we would have chosen a different house!!!!!! With ethics like that, they are smart to get full payment before you see what you?re really getting. They did give us a small refund, so we?ll give them 2 stars instead of 1.

I love Pawleys Island but this rental company always has a difficult web site. I paid for trip insurance I did not want and they will not make any adjustments. Not happy at all with their customer service. I like the house so I keep coming back but always a challenge.

Some of the women answering the phone weren't always polite when calling for our questions regarding our upcoming trip. "The phones are ringing off the hooK" was one response I got when calling to ask a question. Also, we requested late check-out because no one was renting immediately after us. They would not accommodate our request. Third, they will not rent partial weeks during off season until two weeks out or less. WHY? It is off season and MANY rentals sit empty. I believe vacationers would love to rent partial weeks. However, two weeks out is not enough time for many people to make plans. Though we love Pawleys Island and have vacationed here for years, this company has left us with a bad taste in our mouths. I am not going to use this rental company again.

My family has been renting houses from Pawleys Island Realty on Pawleys Island since 1982. The employees have always been helpful and friendly. We have occasionally rented from other companies to find a specific house, but quickly returned to the "family" we have at PIR. If an owner decides to sell or to use a house we have reserved, the agents quickly find and fully describe a new house for us to rent. If we have a problem with a door, key, light, appliance or anything, repairs are made in a timely manner. Mary Jane, Cecile, Sarah-all the classy, sassy ladies at PIR-have made our trips to PI more fun and the planning easier every time! See you soon!

Beware: We rented a house here that was NOT as described. Flushing one toilet caused another to overflow. The beds had no sheets. Roaches crawled in the kitchen. There were no windows overlooking the beach. It was like being in an abandoned building. We left early and requested a PARTIAL refund ONLY for the time that we are not there, but were denied the refund: Their policy: "No refunds". The credit card company, as well, quoted their "NO REFUNDS" policy in denying a refund. So beware of these people.

I was very disappointed in the condition of the home we rented. It was dirty and unkept. Most of all the customer service was horrible. We will not be renting with this company again.
